it’s october and we’re already deep into pumpkin spice season. and don’t get us wrong, a psl on a cool autumn day really does the trick, but we want to highlight some other fall flavors. so for those who want to go beyond basic we present two seasonal drinks that will change the way you think of coffee in autumn.

for those who like to drink iced coffee year-round or enjoy a good cocktail: cranberry spice cold drip

first, make a homemade syrup by combining 1 part water, 1 part 100% cranberry juice & 2 parts sugar in a sauce pan. cook over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. continue cooking for a few minutes until the syrup has reduced slightly. in the last minute of cooking add a few shakes of ground cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, all spice, nutmeg (or any of your other favorite warm spices). strain and cool before using.

in a cocktail shaker combine 1 tbsp syrup with 4 oz Kavnia (we love the dark roast for this drink) + 2 oz water and a few ice cubes. shake well and pour into a rocks glass. garnish with orange bitters or an orange twist if you’re feeling fancy.

and for those who need a little warmth- maple sage latte

combine 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 fresh sage leaf & 6 oz of your favorite milk together in a sauce pan- oat milk is our favorite here. stir and bring to a simmer- a few minutes is perfect, you don’t want it to boil. once heated, remove the sage leaf and pour your infused maple milk over a few ounces of Kavnia.
